Attendance
Regular attendance is essential for adequate training. Cultivation of desirable work habits is just as important as the acquisition of knowledge and the development of skills needed in a given occupation. Students should train themselves to be present and on time for all classes. Students are responsible for all work missed during an absence and should contact an instructor regarding makeup work. Makeup work shall not be authorized for the purpose of removing an absence. Students may not miss more than three (3) days throughout the course of the training. The student is given an option to make up days missed on a Saturday at the director’s discretion. Only two days can be made up.
If a student misses more than three complete classes, the student will be terminated from the training program and must follow the institutional procedure for readmission. Readmission will not be allowed until the next grading period. NOTE: A complete class is defined as a six-hour class.
*DAOD will not terminate the enrollment of a student for lack of attendance at a point at which a refund would not be due.
Leave of Absence
Students may be considered for a leave of absence under the following circumstances:
Medical or Extended Illness – students will be considered due to extended illness.
Family –for pregnancy, paternity, adoption, or parental care consistent with the family leave act.
Military – for students to perform military service or receive military training.
Leaves of absence for other reasons may be approved on an individual basis. The decision to grant leave will be left solely to the School Director. Leaves must be requested in writing. A leave of absence is discouraged except in emergency situations. The length for a leave of absence is per FMLA law and for other types of absences due to illness, may be up to 30 days in length.
