Dental Assisting Program Course Overview

  • Our Course

    Our curriculum is designed to provide the knowledge needed to create opportunities for the students to develop a fundamental background in the dental assisting field. Graduates of this program may find entry-level employment in dental practices, specialty dental practices such as orthodontics (braces) or oral surgery (removal of teeth), solo or group dental practices, pediatrics (children), hospital dental clinics, military dental clinics, dental school clinics, dental insurance companies, and dental supply companies.

  • Placement Assistance

    We actively assist our students in career placement upon graduation. We help every student create a resume that highlights their experience and knowledge in the dental field. Not only do we help our students create effective resumes, we also prepare our students to answer common interview questions and make a lasting first impression. Assistance will be provided for 6 months post-graduation.

  • What's Included

    This is an all-inclusive course that includes BLS/CPR Certification, RDA Certification, Uniforms, and Books.

    We work with specialists in almost every field of dentistry including Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics, Pediatric Dentists, and General Dentists.

Dallas Academy of Dentistry prepares students for entry level positions in the dental profession. Students will learn an array of dental office practices including front and back office capabilities.

Dental Assistant graduates receive a certificate and are prepared to become a Registered Dental Assistant. A Registered Dental Assistant must first pass the Texas State Board of Dental Examiner's Registered Dental Assistant Exam. The Exam includes sections on Radiology, Jurisprudence and Infection Control. Our program and study guides are designed to help you pass the exam. These subjects are covered using class room instruction and practical hands-on training with the equipment, instrumentation, and materials used in a state of the art practicing dental office.

Effective 09/01/06, to apply to become a registered dental assistant, a student must complete a mandatory short course approved by The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. An approved provider list can be found on the TSBDE website at: https://tsbde.texas.gov/. By law a dental assistant must register with the TSBDE in order to take X-rays at a dental office.

    The overall grade average is obtained by averaging all grades and assigning a letter grade as defined above. A grade of "I" is a temporary transcript entry that will be treated as an F until changed. A grade of "W" will be treated as an F until the course(s) is/are completed. Students will be graded weekly and receive progress reports on Friday’s.  A mid-term progress report will be given in week 4.

  • Transcripts are available upon request unless the student is indebted financially to the school.  No transcript of grades will be released without the student’s prior approval in writing. Each graduate is issued an official transcript of her/his academic record at no charge. Each subsequent transcript for a graduate or any transcript for a non-graduate is furnished after receipt of a $5.00 fee. A federal or state agency which periodically requires a transcript in order to determine a student’s progress is exempt from this fee.

Graduation Requirements

Students will be required to complete a total of 240 clock hours to graduate and an overall average of 70. Students have a maximum of 8 weeks to complete each program. Upon completion graduates will receive a certificate for Dental Assisting.
